We were blessed, recently, in the lost world with the opportunity to review what is sure to be one of the hottest holiday gifts for the 2011 season, the Rockboard Scooter! For this review, I enlisted the help of my very own shredder extrordinaire, Daniel. He put aside his longboard long enough to help mom out. Let’s hear it for Daniel! Without him I’d have had to subject you to a fat fluffy old mama trying to teach herself a few new tricks. NOT something you’d want to see! Thank goodness for kids.
What huge innovative step up from those ordinary scooters! This scooter truly rocks…in more ways than one! Daniel had a ball on it and it drew quite a crowd of kids wanting to know what strange new beast he was riding. Before we were finished filming, all the kids had scattered, presumably to run home and beg to find their own Rockboard Scooter under the tree in December!
Seriously, this scooter is great. It came fully assembled, all we had to do was lift it from the box, unfold, adjust the handle bars and go! I thought it might be a process to learn the rocking motion, but I underestimated today’s kids. Daniel was off in a flash and had no problems whatsoever.
This scooter would be wonderful for an older child, the box suggests 8 and up and I think this is spot on. It holds up to 200 pounds, though, so mom, dad or older siblings can get in on the action too! Daniel is a shade over 6 feet tall and as you can see, with the handle bars raised, it’s fine for him. It has a hand brake (does your scooter?), a kick stand (for those rare times it won’t be in use) and the deck is completely covered with grip tape for a safer non slip ride.
It has two modes of travel…the standard kick mode, that we’re all used to and the the awesome rocking mode, which has the added benefit, in my opinion, of being a great cardiovascular workout (don’t tell your kids…just let ‘em think it’s fun), folds for ease of storage and comes with a DVD and owner’s manual.
