Eye Care Educational Tools from Zeiss – an industry leader!

Zeiss

I woke up one morning, not too many years ago, and realized that somehow, my arms had gotten too short for my eyes! Oh my vision had been changing for years, but in increments too small to really notice. I just sat back a little further from the computer or held my book a little lower on my lap and it was all good.

Thankfully, my eye doctor put my fears of slowly going blind to rest and explained that when we approach 40, nearly everyone experiences changes in their vision! it’s called presbyopia, a condition in which the crystalline lens of the eye looses flexibility, making it more difficult to focus on close objects.

He explained the importance of regular eye exams (yearly for those over age 40) for all the members in my family, even if we haven’t noticed a problem and how to choose an eye care professional best suited to our needs. Optometrists are trained to recognize and treat many medical eye condtions and an Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who can treat the full range of eye diseases and condtions and perform surgery. An Optician fills the prescription from the optometrist or ophthalmologist and specializes in fitting eyeglasses and providing lenses to correct vision problems.

Thankfully, these days, my vision, thanks to my doctor and great prescription lenses, is wonderful. I sit a normal distance from my computer, hold my book a normal distance from my eyes and don’t suffer headaches from eye strain any more.

For all the reasons above, I was very pleased to be asked to participate in a blog opportunity sponsored by Zeiss.

Carl Zeiss Vision  is a global leader in precision optics. With a full line of advanced customized lenses, advanced performance coatings, i.Scription® by ZEISS diagnostic technology and a national laboratory network, Carl Zeiss Vision is dedicated to creating a better visual experience for patients and greater success for eye care practices.

Zeiss has put together a series of educational tools that were created to enable eyeglass wearers to better understand their vision correction needs, ensure they get the most out of their next eye exam, and receive the best lenses to regain sharp vision.

Key points that are covered include:

1. Facts to know about vision and lenses
2. Tips for selecting an eye doctor
3. Questions to ask at your next eye appointment
4. Facts to know about age-related vision changes

Their helpful educational tools help to ‘demystify’ vision care and better equip up to make critical decisions concerning our vision and that of our families. It’s written in language you and I can understand with no techno babble that would make navigation difficult.

The good folks at Zeiss understand that every eye is just as unique as a fingerprint. More than any other sensory organ, our eyes allow us to experience and perceive our environment.

They understands the importance of taking individuality into account when rendering consulting and diagnostic services to people who wear glasses and of course, when producing lenses for them.

Thank you Zeiss, for the wonderful work that you do!
