Falafel Republic – a delicious #vegan meal option! *givaway* ends 1/30

Falafel Republic

One of my all time favorite dinner (or lunch or snack) components is
falafel. I think I could happily consume falafel every single day. There are so many ways to serve it, I never get tired of it!

Traditionally, I serve falafel with homemade flatbread, hummus and a nice vegan tzatziki sauce, but it’s equally delicous on Taco Tuesday all nice and wrapped in a tortilla with salsa and vegan queso, or quartered and used to top a crisp green salad. Truth be told, there are probably as many ways to eat falafel as there are folks to eat it!

I love falafel…but sometimes, it just doesn’t love me. Preparing my falafel batter is a labor of love…I grind my chickpeas, add just the right ingredients and spices, make them into lovely yummy little balls of goodness, drop them into il that’s the perfect temperature and…..watch as they crumble into nothingness. Yes, I have actually had this happen…more times than I care to admit.

When the good folks at Falafel Republic approached me and asked if I’d like to review their product, I shrugged and said, “why not?”

In due time, a big box of falafel arrived in the lost world. They looked good, they smelled good and then I tasted one. Even cold, I swear I heard the heavenly host sing! Falafel Republic! Oh you beautiful little round bundles of chickpea yumminess! Where have you
been all my life?

You know, I generally cook from scratch, but I’m not above some healthy wholesome convenience foods in the pantry, but for whatever reason, I’ve never considered buying premade falafel. Oh I’ve tried a few mixes and been less than thrilled with the results. I guess I assumed all falafel products were created equal. Boy howdy, was I wrong!

I was sent both varieties of Falafel Republic falafel…traditional and roasted garlic . Both were delicious and disappeared in very short order, but my personal favorite has got to be the roasted garlic! Fabulous!

Both varieties pack a wallop in the nutrition department with no cholesterol, high protein and fiber and low in fat. They’re gluten-free, dairy free, and vegan friendly. They’re super easy to prepare..they’re already fully cooked so a few seconds in the microwave or a few minutes in a conventional oven and you’re good to go (a definite plus when the business of life gets in the way of mealtime) What’s not to love here?

I make my own falafels too. So yummy with pitta bread, yogurt sauce and a bit of salsa and veggies of course. Also very nutritious as a snack or main meal.

I have the same problem of my falafel falling apart. Have you tried baking them? That works for me. They aren’t as crisp as when you fry them, but they are still yummy.
