The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a “name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers. Change the word “seller” to blogger and it’s totally applicable here.
For me, branding is not about getting my sponsors to choose life in the lost world over other blogs, rather, it’s about getting them to recognize us as a good choice to get their message and product out there and in front of the general public. (my readers)
My objectives, this year, include:
Reaching out to relevant companies, clearly delivering my message, confirming my credibility with my sponsors and readers, continuing to make an emotional connection with my readers, motivating my readers to try the products I blog about and keeping my sponsors and readers coming back again and again.
To accomplish my goals, I need to, in part, continue to inject myself and my family into the reviews that I post here on the blog. I’ve considered enlisting the aid of a company like noesis-design.co.uk to help me and depending on how things go this year, may decide to go with that option in 2014.
The phrase, “building my brand” is a relatively new one for me but I’m learning that a strong brand is valuable tool for keeping life in the lost world in the forefront of folks’ thoughts. It’s not just the big guys that need to be concerned with branding…bloggers need to spend time researching, defining and building our brands too!
