It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Lindsay S. Nixon and love recipes from the Happy Herbivore cookbooks, so when I was invited to review the latest, Happy Herbivore Abroad, I jumped at the chance! More than just a cookbook, this latest installment in the HH series contains gorgeous photographs of author Lindsay S. Nixon’s travels around Europe along with personal narratives in travelogue form.

One of the things I’ve always liked best about Lindsay’s recipes is the fact that she doesn’t use exotic or hard to find ingredients. She writes for you and I and includes recipes that call for things you probably already have in the cupboard or fridge. No chasing down hard to pronounce spices at a store you need to make a road trip to find!

Another thing I really love and appreciate is that Happy Herbivore Abroad is an “easy” cookbook. The recipes are basic, simple, require no advanced technique or equipment other than a blender or food processor.

From Thai Pineapple Curry to German Potato Salad to Moroccan Vegetables, the variety of recipes in Happy Herbivore Abroad is deliciously surprising. There are recipes from all over the globe (and a pronunciation guide for some…YES!) and a quick reference guide at the top of the recipe pages so you can tell at a glance if a dish is fat-free, gluten-free or soy-free!

Connect with Lindsay S. Nixon on Facebook and Twitter, too!

Happy Herbivore Abroad is available at trusted retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million, there’s simply nothing about this cookbook that I don’t love and I’m betting that once you get your hands on a copy, you’ll feel the same!

I love both Thai and Indian esp when eating out. However, I tend to lean towards a Mediterranean diet at home as I am a Pesco-Lactose Vegetarian.
    Thanks for the opportunity!

I do like the new way (giveaway platform) you are using. It is a fairly easy and logical setup. Another thing I like is that you don’t have literally 15 things to do to try to win; it’s simple. Thanks!

My favorite cuisine is Italian food, but it can be difficult to find vegan-Italian dishes.

  13. Casy Mc says:

I just noticed that you do have a number entry possibilities, and I began to think–that’s actually the smartest way to get the word out and create a little competition, so I stand corrected. Bravo!

  14. My fave cuisine is Italian…vegan lasagna, pizza and cannoli make me all weak in the knees! :)

  15. The fusion of coconut milk, red curry paste, and lime juice makes my mouth sing! So, anything with that combo is my favorite – thai soup, coconut curry noodles, etc.
