Horses don’t easily tolerate a high volume of concentrated feed in their diet and low levels of hay and/or grass can spell disaster. Their digestive systems are designed to have small amounts of feed moving through at all times and when good forage is the base of their diet, this happens correctly. .
There are a lot of advantages to living in my part of central Florida, but good grass and pasture is not one of them. My pasture looks lush and green, but on closer examination, you’ll find a high percentage of weeds and other things that the horses find unpalatable.
You CAN grow good grass, but it’s expensive and time consuming to build pasture and small landholders, like me, don’t have enough land for proper rotation so we rely on quality feeds produced by companies like the Standlee Hay Company.
Standlee Hay Company, Inc. is a leader in the hay industry. On just shy of ten thousand acres of carefully managed alfalfa, timothy grass, orchard grass, alfalfa/grass and orchard/alfalfa hay, the 142,000 square foot Standlee facility is located in the small town of Eden, Idaho.
The Standlee Hay Company is rightfully proud of their long-standing commitment to “Quality At Its Best”, dedicated in growing, producing and manufacturing the highest quality forage products available today in the industry. By enthusiastically embracing old and new technology, they will continue to provide customers with industry leading premium and nutritious forage products far into the future.
Of course it’s of the utmost importance, to me, to do my very best when it concerns the animals that have been entrusted to my care and products like Standlee Alfalfa Cubes and Alfalfa Pellets help me do that. It bears mentioning that the Standlee line is GMO-free and certified free of noxious weeds, too.
With the care they use in growing, harvesting and processing their products, I can sleep a little easier knowing I truly AM feeding a quality diet to my animals. I like that.
